Meet our #SDBC Feature of the Week!

Danielle Walters was born and raised in Rochester NY. Danielle is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Later she accomplished a master’s degree in Education Teacher Leadership. She is a teacher in the Rochester City School District.

Danielle also co-authored a children’s book with her 9 year old daughter Ja’lynn titled, “Pretty from the Kink in my Curls to the Beat in my Step.” Their book was inspired by her daughter, who felt insecure about herself after experiencing being bullied. Their book teaches children ways to handle bullying and also teaches self-love. Since publishing the book, Danielle has become an advocate for anti-bullying, self-love and children’s literature.

When asked how she is living her best life as a single woman she said, “Living my life as a single woman means setting goals and accomplishing them.  No matter how big or small, accomplishing goals to better the life of my daughter and myself is important to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without God, my family and taking the time to dream and set goals for myself. Without setting goals, I would have no clear destination on my life.  Setting goals and accomplishing them allows me to gain confidence and power to continue to move forward.”
